not to start up on the whole pointless browser war thing, but to answer the question, i say use opera. Also, re: the comment about mozilla and its clones, what do you think internet explorer is?it's the worst and most buggy mozilla clone in the world.

but if you do want it to run, try running it in wine, wineX, win4lin or get VMWare and install windows in that. I haven't tried any of those options and i never will. so good luck doing it.

Finally, if you were running HP-UX or Solaris, then you could run Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express (where would be the fun in outlook though, if you know that none of the viruses you got through it would work on your system?) here's the link:

You will quickly realise though, that while they are UNIX implementations of Internet Explorer, the source code is still denied to you so you can not recompile for your own system....

back to the old drawing board. Either that or use mozilla. It's open source, unlike even Opera.

Why not try running it in WINE and sending Bill Gates a screenshot? :D I know it works, because I tried it. I got Windoze Media Player 7.x working too. :P Grokster 1.5.1 is next!

Fellows, I am using Konqueror 3.0 / SuSE 7.3 / KDE 3 as we speak. Its a very fast browser indeed. Still though, It doesn't render some pages as good as Mozilla, and on some sites like BankOfAmerica.com you HAVE to use IE or Netscape/Mozilla. I shall give Opera a shot. Let me know If any of you come across another decent webn browser. Thanx for all the feedcabk everybody. It is much appreciated :)

have u tried changing the user agent string to IE or Netscape/Mozilla?
in the Tools menu, there's a submenu called Change Browser Identification. U could set it to all sorts of browsers and some sites can be tricked like that so they actually do work perfectly :)

but i do agree with u that mozilla is still better at rendering certain pages. but... if u look at the progress between konq 2.2.2 (which was still basically unusable as a browser imho) and konq 3.0.1 the future of konq as one of the premier browser on unix systems is looking very bright :)

i actually wouldn't be surprised at all if Konq 3.1 would surpass Mozilla on almost every field

i use opera under windoze on my other pc and i have to say that its a damn fine web browser, IE may be refined but it doesnt really live up to operas features. In my opinion you should use opera (the adverts-in version is free :D) because its free, fast, stable and just a pleasure to use - although its crashed out a couple of times for some strange reason!

also i, since im fairly new to linux i havent had a change to really have a good look at mozilla or the new konqueror and i would appreaciate any browswer recomendations. :)

Cool. I changed the browser Identification and tried BankOfAmerica.com again and still no good. Anyways, maybe Bankofamerica is not sucha good site to try anyways.
I will have to give opera a try, firstly I'm gonna look into RC2 of the new Mozilla :)

As for me when I encounter a site that says I must use a particular browser I never come back to their site, I think it is a preragative of a costumer to use a browser of his/her choice, this is an indication of a weak design not targeted to the end-users.
So expanding this issue, I and a couple of more developers argued with IT management to use non-windows OS at home to connect to the company's network, they were imposing rules of using windows tools to connect (PcAnyware, etc.), now there is an option for us to use other tools like vnc, etc.

I love Mozilla 1 RC2 (i might have RC3 i'm not sure). But it is fast, reliable, doesnt screw up code like IE does.
IE (or most of microsofts products) doesnt bother to go with any of the standards, so it fucks up the code a lot. I've never had a problem with Mozilla and i love it. Konqueror 3 is pretty sweet looking but it has a few bugs.

....and hey, dont bash the guy for asking if there is an MS product for Linux, they did make IE for Mac (it was probably just to prove that they help competition though)

LOL, no offense taken. I totally agree that Microsoft respect no one and nothing. Anyways, I'm looking on google to find the latest Mozilla RPM :)

By the way, Microsoft DID release software for unix, after all they DID release IE for HP-UX and Mac. Even though MacOX X and HP_UX are not exactly LINux, but they are Unices :)

The best place for that is www.mozilla.org , no need to search on google, probably number 1 site that comes up is mozilla.org anyways.
