Internet Explorer doesn't load..I have Wine & Crossover installed...
 

Please help...IE doesn't load up...I have Wine and Crossover installed. The IE logo is on my desktop though. But no load when I double click the icon.

WTF?
why are you using that crappy browser use firefox its more secure and faster

is it the OLD very old IE4 that is for linux
or are you using one of the "how to's" for IE 6 / 7
if a how to
post a link to WHAT one you are using !!!

There is no IE for Linux. However the original poster did say he was using Wine and Crossover, which allows running Windows binaries on Linux.

To the original poster. I would attempt to install IE5 if at all possible, since I never had any problems getting that to run under Wine. If you follow the instructions provided by Crossover, then you shouldn't have any problems.

And there are still sites that require the use of IE, rather than firefox, which is one reason why a person might need to use it.

It might be easier to use the IEs4Linux package (just google it). While you still need wine installed (and working), the rest of the setup it will just take care of(currently using 6). Unfortunately there are STILL a few sites out there that will not accept FF.

there are still sadly several school (college and public schools systems) as well as many banks and other financial institutes (including lending and mortgage companies) that have bad code that will only work with IE, or worse yet only work with MS Windows and IE or FireFox browser combinations.

anyways to the OP, i have found it just easier to set up a VM (virtual machine) via VMWare and install WinXP Pro and IE8 and then secure its LAN connection so it is in no way connectible to your Linux OS in any way shape or form. sadly this means you will need roughly 10-20G worth of HDD space, but it just works.

It is what I have had to do on my Mac so I can access my colleges stupid web page properly to upload homework and what not.

yes I have filed off many complaints to the IT department, I have bitched out the admins many times due to their screw ups, etc... Hell they are running ISS v6 on win2k3 server for a school with over 12k students and faculty. as a result they have to bring the entire site down for 2-4hr a night and 4-8hrs 1x a week for maintenance. horrid solution to run a business on, but hell its their loss as ill be out of there soon enough.
