Internet drops out after 4 hours
F#@&EN PIECE OF CRAP !! Thats what you hear from my room every 4 hours on the dot while I'm on the net. For some reason after I've been connected for exactly 4 hours, to the second, my connection drops out. Obviously very frustrating! I've been through all the config files (& GUI's, shhh don't tell any one!) but there's nothing that defines a "max up" time or the likes, none that I can find any way. I've mailed my isp but they say it's not them, I've dialed up on my Dad's computer under windoze and cruised round for over 6 hours so it's definently not my isp.
I am running Fedora Core 1 with a crappy internal "linmodem" (using the lt_modem drivers from www.heby.de/ltmodem. I have always had this problem. Not just with Fedora but with earlier Red Hats as well. (I think about 5.2 was the first one I used) Please, I need help! This is doing my head in! If anyone has any idea why this might be happening I would be forever grateful if they could share that knowledge with me. Thanks in advance. (a pre-thanks) & a quick post-thanks to all that have helped me in the past. |
Try your computers power save settings in BIOS. It may be trying to cut power off in every 4 hours :).
