Internet Connection issue

Hi this is my first time posting and i am a beginner in using linux, my friend got me into all of this and i would really like to learn how to use it. so i instealled Linux SUSE 10 with gnome and i have a Wireless Linksys card and a Wireless Linksys router for the lab top. Linus is on my lab top and it will not allot me to use my wireless card for somereason. it wont let me select activate either. i am not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software but i would really like it if someone could help me out. thank you

First, try connecting to your router with an Ethernet cable---make sure that at least this much is working.

For the wireless, I am not personally knowledgable, but post some more details and someone may be able to help---eg what configuration dialogs you are looking at and exactly what does/does not happen.

I have tried connection through wired ethernet cable and it does work perfectly well. just that for wireless it dosent seem to work at all. when i got to ethernet connections it shoes the network connections and ethernet eth0 active while it shows Wireless Disabled.
