internet activity delay
Hi
I'm not sure if this is a software, hardware, or os incompatibility issue, but here goes . . . I have a dual boot system: windows xp / linux mepis 3.3.1. I access the internet via adsl (512/128) using a zyxel 645 series modem and an intel pro/100 ethernet card. Here's the problem>> When using Mepis and Firefox 1.5 browser, I get a 10 to 15 second delay from the time I enter an internet address (press enter) and the time the activity light on the modem begins to indicate any internet activity. It typically takes 15-20 seconds for a website to begin to load. Using the same hardware and browser in windows xp, the activity is instant and most websites load in 2-5 seconds. I would appreciate any insight into this that you might have. Thank you. |
Thanks for viewing my post, however, Problem Solved! Disabled IPv6

yea thats one for people to know so i bump this one to top.
i see alot of "linux slow on internet" posts using ipv6 every web request gets met with a "huh?" "what?" "you say what?" "what is that?" "oh man we don't do that kind of stuff round here" "huh" "what can you do?" "do ipv4" "oh-ok" re-send request. all this eats up a bit of time. |
Hi
have the same time delay problem. Can you explain what you mean with disable IPv6 to resolve the issue. Thanks. |
