Internal chat server?

Hello.

I was just wondering if there is any kind of software that would allow me to create an internal chat server?

There would be less than 10 people connected at once, using Windows and / or Linux clients.

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks alot.

Try Jabber. Check the list of server implementations: http://www.jabber.org/admin/serverlist.php
