Intelligent auto driver install
hi,
I am planning to migrate the whole windows network onto linux and I am thinking about this option when windows can't do what I want. I'd like to have the linux box to detect wireless driver problem ( lets say, it can't ping localhost, or it doesn't get ping for half an hour, or simplly it knows the driver is not working) and reinstall the wireless driver. I have a very unique wireless environment and windows wireless driver just get f**ked up with instable single and constant disconnection . the result is i don't get a ping from the unit and i have to manually install the driver again. some programming is expected but I want to know if it is possible with no human intervention. much like self detection and self healing for wireless driver. thanks |
if you want to use wireless card , then you must be careful. It is very complicated to install a wireless driver, if your wireless card's vendor don't supply the driver install programm for Linux.
