Exclamation Intel536ep modem: i am just about there


Hi all,

i have downloaded the drivers and patched them.

it works fine till make clean
but when i type "make 536" it says install kernel source.
please some one tell me from where do i download this kernel source and how do install it?

FOllowing is the whole process and error message;


linux:~ # tar xzf intel-536ep-4.69.1.tgz

linux:~ # cd intel-536EP-2.56.76.1

linux:~/intel-536EP-2.56.76.1 # patch -l -p1 < ~/intel536ep.diff

I had a similar problem, but as I am using Mandrake which uses rpm to install software. I was simply able to type:

Code:
urpmi kernel-source
and it installed my kernel source from cd. You might want to have a look for other threads about 'kernel source' if this doesn't work on your distribution. I also did not need to make any amendments to the driver, so can't comment on that. Hope this is of help.
