Intel Pro/100 VE make fails with slackware 4.0

I have down loaded e100-2.1.15 base adapter driver from Intel but the make fails with "dereferencing pointer to incomplete type" with slackware 4.0 install. Has someone had the same problem with an Intel Pro/100 VE nic and slackware 4.0?

Lightbulb I have the solution...

Can I ask you why you are using such an old version of Slack?
i believe your problem can be fixed by using the newest version...
or maybe something from this decade.
