Intalling JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in Ubuntu
Hi everyone, I installed Limewire in Ubuntu by using alien to convert rpm packages to debian. I successfuly installed Limewire however Limewire needs JRE for it to run. I downloaded jre from www.java.com and followed the instructions. But Limewire is still not working and the jre seems not working. Can someone help me on this?

Try my quick and dirty tutorial:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...40#post1841740 just make sure to get the Java binaries ratter then the rpm's. Same goes to Limewire. It's just easier :) Good luck! |
Try googling for "Unofficial Ubuntu Guide" and whatever version (i.e. hoary or warty or dapper). there's step by step instructions how to set it all up...

Why not follow the Wiki instructions and create a proper Debian package from the Sun file instead? That way upgrading or removal gets a whole lot easier. Plus, you don't screw up the excellent Debian alternatives system.
