Intalling as root


When ever i try to install any thing i either get "permissian denied" or it just wont play ball and yes i do log in as root

I`ve just tried to move real player 9 codecs & plug ins into there right full place but i can`t even do that ?

Can anyone run me through in good old plain english on how to do anything as root,i`m fine with RPM`s...............but then again who wouldn`t

ps I am pretty new at this linux lark

what method are you loggin as root? su- or through X ?

i suggest just using a shell, "su -" and install what every your installing.

btw this should be in the SuSe distro forum helper thingy. -=P
