uninstall the installed RPM by doin

#rpm -evh yahoo-messenger.rpm

after uninstalling yahoo messenger

#locate .ymessenger

delete the hidden folder's [.ymessenger] in your root as well as other user directories..

install yahoo messenger again. by

#rpm -ivh yahoo-messenger.rpm

I should work.. hopefully

Try using Gaim for linux it's a multi-protocol client with [yahoo, msn, aol.] support.
