Installing Ximian Desktop 2

First off, is it even worth the install? Well anyway, I go to the website, follow the instructions, fetch the installer through the terminal and all is ok. Then the installer pops up and I click forward, and it says "XD2 can not determine your distribution." The XD2 website says that Red Hat v9 (what I'm running) is currently supported. So what gives? Anyone know?
