Installing Xerox DocumentCenter 230
Dear friends,
I am new to Linux and have installed Mandrake 9.1 on my office Dell desktop. We have a Xerox Document Center 230 - Networked printer. I went to their website and downloaded both Linuxi386XpxxInstall and PrinterpackageXpxx files into file:/home/anand/documents directory. I unzipped them (sorry windows hangover!) in the same directory. I then went to superuser mode and ran ./setup command and the results are enclosed below.... root@dubbc8sn0j-1 Linuxi386XpxxInstall]# ./setup .............ERROR: unable to locate system command 'uncompress' [root@dubbc8sn0j-1 Linuxi386XpxxInstall]# What am I doing wrong?. Kindly help. I look forward to your assistance. Best regards, Anand K. |
Here's the fix for Xerox

It basically comes down to the fact that compress/uncompress is a Unix utility replaced with gzip and bzip in linux tar can uncompress these files with either the -Z option or --compress --uncompress. Install the rpm with 'rpm -ivh rpm_file_here ' after running setup run xpadmin from the command line to bring up the CentreWare configuration utility. Have a nice Day |
