Exclamation Installing winmodem Driver

I installed Mandrake 9.1 and my modem does not work so I went to and downloaded my modem driver but I have no idea what to do with it. The instructions say I have to compile a kernel and then go to a directory that doesn't exist. I have no idea on how to compile a kernel or anything else for that matter. I am new to linux so I would need a step by step answer. Thank you for any help you could provide. Everything else is working perfect in mandrake 9.1.

Well, you probobly have to install your kernel source. Look for the kernelsource RPMs on your install discs.

Once thats installed, you have to recompile your kernel. There is a nice tutorial in the Slackware Forum here.

For a more in depth guide, check out the How-To at (the Linux Documentation Project).
