Installing Winex

Ok, I downloaded the source via 'cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.winex.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex co wine' and then compiled, I think, with ' ~./tools/makeinstall'. Now what?

Grrr, got burnt being root and had to reinstall Slack. Now when I try to download Winex, this is the cause-effect:
root@darkstar:/# cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex login
Logging in to :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:2401/cvsroot/winex
CVS password:
cvs [login aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

Winex compile troubles

When I compile winex (latest from CVS), I get this error:

gcc -c -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -g -O2 -Wall -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -fno-keep-static-consts -D__int8=char -D__int16=short -D__int32=int "-D__int64=long long" -D__WINE__ -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/X11R6/include -o lex.ppl.o lex.ppl.c
./ppl.l:81:1: warning: "/*" within comment
./ppl.l: In function `pplex':
./ppl.l:305: `seen_junk' undeclared (first use in this function)
./ppl.l:305: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
./ppl.l:305: for each function it appears in.)
...

make[2]: *** [lex.ppl.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/downcvs/wine/tools/wrc'
make[1]: *** [wrc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/downcvs/wine/tools'
make: *** [tools] Error 2

I looked into wine/tools/ppl.l file, but it contains some bizarre code I dont understand. I have gcc version 3.2.3
Can somebody help me with this please?

From the end of the installation via './tools/wineinstall' in the directory /home/tynoan/wine-20030508:

Configuring Wine without Windows.
Some fake Windows directories must be created, to hold any .ini files, DLLs,
start menu entries, and other things your applications may need to install.
Where would you like your fake C drive to be placed?
(default is /home/tynoan/c) /home/tynoan/wine/c_drive
Configuring Wine for a no-windows install in /home/tynoan/wine/c_drive...
./tools/wineinstall: line 543: /tmp/wineinstall.conf: Permission denied

Created /home/tynoan/.wine/config using default Wine configuration.
You probably want to review the file, though.

Compiling regedit...
make: Nothing to be done for `all'.

Preparing to install default Wine registry entries...
Installing default Wine registry entries...

Could not stat /home/tynoan/.transgaming/c_drive (No such file or directory), ig noring drive C:
Invalid path L"c:\\windows" for L"windows" directory: does not exist.
Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file,
which is (supposed to be) '/home/tynoan/.wine/config'.
Registry install failed.

Why does it try to start the fake c drive in /.transgaming/c_drive? I thought I told it to use /home/tynoan/wine/c_drive.

excerpt from the file /home/tynoan/wine/config:

[Drive C]
"Path" = "/home/tynoan/wine/c_drive"
"Type" = "hd"
"Label" = "MS-DOS"
"Filesystem" = "win95"

[wine]
"Windows" = "c:\\windows"
"System" = "c:\\windows\\system"
"Temp" = "e:\\"
"Path" = "c:\\windows;c:\\windows\\system;e:\\;e:\\test;f:\\"
"Profile" = "c:\\windows\\Profiles\\Administrator"
"GraphicsDriver" = "x11drv"
;"ShowDirSymlinks" = "1"
;"ShowDotFiles" = "1"
"ShellLinker" = "wineshelllink"

Doesnt the config file point to /home/tynoan/wine/c_drive for the fake c drive? Or do I misunderstand whats going on completely?
