Installing/Upgrading MySQL

I have FC3 and I'm trying to install MySQL.
I've downloaded MySQL-server-4.1.11-0.i386.rpm and I've tried running
the cmd rpm -i MySQL-server-4.1.11-0.i386.rpm and it replies......

Code:
rpm -i MySQL-server-4.1.11-0.i386.rpm
warning: MySQL-server-4.1.11-0.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 5072e1f5
error: Failed dependencies:
        MySQL conflicts with mysql-3.23.58-16.FC3.1.i386
I'm assuming I need to uninstall the mysql-3x and then try to install
mysql-4x. I'm not quite sure how to get rid of mysql-3x because the
cmd rpm -e mysql-3.23.58-16.FC3.1.i386 always results in this...

Code:
[root@linux mark]# rpm -e mysql-3.23.58-16.FC3.1.i386
error: Failed dependencies:
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) perl-DBD-MySQL-2.9003-5.i386
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) dovecot-0.99.11-1.FC3.4.i386
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) libdbi-dbd-mysql-0.6.5-9.i386
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) MyODBC-2.50.39-19.i386
libmysqlclient_r.so.10 is needed by (installed) MySQL-python-0.9.2-4.i386
mysql = 3.23.58 is needed by (installed) mysql-devel-3.23.58-13.i386
mysql is needed by (installed) MySQL-python-0.9.2-4.i386
Any guidance much appreciated....thanks

Why don't you install using YUM or APT. You will have to resolve all those dependencies if you want to install it manually. You will need to install, mysql, libmysqlclient and subsequent dependencies if you choose manual installation.
