Installing unionfs on kernel 2.6.30

I've sort of got a handle on kernel compilation, but patching has me a bit flummoxed. All I want to do is create a kernel module for unionfs and use it with 2.6.30. I hate to ask for a step-by-step, but...<cough>...um...please?

I've got the kernel sources for 2.6.30. I'm comfortable with the command luine. But I can't figure out the right procedure. Thanks in advance.
