Installing TuxRacer

Hey all,
I've been trying to install TuxRacer for a little wihle now however when i ./configure its been saying:
Code:
checking whether glx.h defines glXGetProcAddressARB... no
configure: error: Your copy of glx.h is out of date. You can get a more recent copy from the latest Mesa distribution (http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net).
Obviously I need the newer Mesa, which i downloaded and installed...but it looks like i just installed it to my home directory so i've tried the command:

Code:
/home/andrew/tuxracer-0.61/configure --with-gl-inc=/home/andrew/Mesa-6.2.1/include/ --with-gl-libs=/home/andrew/Mesa-6.2.1/lib/
Which didn't work. Where should i have installed the Mesa thing in the first place and how? Thanks for any help guys! :-D

Try to install the sourcecode for your X version, the package should be available at slackware.com and
it should be as simple as installing with installpkg. BTW there is a few binary Tuxracer slackware packages available at linuxpackages.net. Try to install that one first and see if it works.

I am getting the same error on ./configure
Code:
checking whether glx.h defines glXGetProcAddressARB... no
configure: error: Your copy of glx.h is out of date. You can get a more recentcopy from the latest Mesa distribution (http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net).
I, too, have installed Mesa after receiving the error, but continue to get the error regardless. It's great that there is a package on linuxpackages.net, but how would one go about getting it to compile from source when receiving the above glx.h error.

I to had the same problem when trying to compille from source, installing mesa didn't help, so I just went searching for a precompilled package, found one at linuxpackages, and it worked.
I'd say if you want to try the game without a lot of trouble with installation, try to find a precompilled package.
