Installing Skype on Slackware

I know that this forum has existed several times before, but none of the answers from any of them have worked for me. I can't get any solution to work to install Skype. I was told I could just download the static version, make "skype" executable and run it, but every time I get the error, "bash: ./skype: No such file or directory". I tried going to SlackBuild.org and install it from there, but all I it was, was a slightly more out-of-date version of the static install which didn't work. I tried the solutions from the other forums and none of them did anything.

Thanks. I ran though the instructions and now it's working perfectly. Sorry for my stupidity.

Don't apologize for not knowing everything, especially since you are new to Slackware. We all were newbies once and are as happy to help now as we were happy that somebody helped us.
