I need to know how I can install red hat 7 with my XP machine. I have 2 80 gig HD's and I have set as master Win xp on it and I want to setup red hat on the slave drive. How can I do this without mseeing up my xp disk and also if there are step by step instrucitons??? I want to be able to dual boot thanks
My question would be, why Redhat 7? That in my own opinion was the worst release Redhat ever released.. it's got more bugs and holes in it than a ton block of swiss cheese..
If you want an updated version without any outdated packages, security vulnerabilities, either check out CentOS 4.0 as its the latest RHEL clone or Fedora Core 3..
Originally posted by scripttron75 I have redhat 7 because I am student and I am just learning this OS. can you direct me in the right direction as to my original ?? thank you
You do realize you can download later versions for free? Then you'll be learning the OS in present day, not 3 years ago.. a lot has changed since then. Redhat 7 even shipped with a broken GCC.. If you really want to learn by installing Redhat 7.0, that's like you installing Windows 95 right now to learn Windows..
And ok, got two disks and you want to install Redhat on your second disk.. plop that cd in your drive, boot from it and install it on the second drive you have. It has a nice little GUI to setup your Linux partitions, not even touching Windows XP.
All i got to say is what trickykid said is completely right, you should go for
a different distro, or even a more stable version of RedHat. Redhat is
unsupported now, so you should consider ditching that thought.
Anyways one of LQ's members did post a HOWTO, so here you go :
well if i was in a bad mood my answer to you for that question would have
simply have been www.google.ca ....
I don't know why people have such an issue with doing a little searching, but
anyways, go here http://fedora.redhat.com/
