Installing programs to USB flash drive
Hey everybody,
Has anyone ever tried to install a large program like Open Office onto a USB flash memory drive? I have been trying with Open Office, but I keep getting I/O errors about half-way through. I believe this is due to the slower transfer rates of USB 1.1 (I'm using old computers) or the write speed of the device. I have also tried installing to the hdd and then copying it over, same problem. Any suggestions? Should I try to do something like not copying the entire OpenOffice1.1.0 directory, and instead go for copying the subdirectories one by one, like copying 'program' and then 'user' etc.?

Why do you need Open Office on a flash drive? :).

So that I can have it with me whenever, wherever. Put a 80 mm Damn Small Linux CD and a flash drive equipped with OOo and all of my files together... I can have everything I need as long as there's a PC around.

Just out of curiousity has anyone ever tried to install say a OS like Knoppix-STD to a USB Flash Drive and it be fully functional?
