installing pptp/vpn to university network

i am trying to get connected to my university network, which is really important. to do so i downloaded a pptp-client. installation with yast won't work since it doesn't use anything than some imagined sources and tells me that the file is not there, kpackage says the following:
Code:
<--replacepkgs  '///home/ungua/pptp-linux-1.1.0-1.i386.rpm';echo RESULT=$?
	file /etc/ppp/options.pptp from install of pptp-linux-1.1.0-1 conflicts with file from package pptp-1.7.0-11
	file /usr/sbin/pptp from install of pptp-linux-1.1.0-1 conflicts with file from package pptp-1.7.0-11
	file /usr/sbin/pptp-command from install of pptp-linux-1.1.0-1 conflicts with file from package pptp-1.7.0-11
RESULT=1
meaning what? that there is a newer version probably installed on my computer? (this one?) in that case, how do i execute it? this is the description from the first kpackage-window:
Code:
pptp-linux

best regards & thank you

edit: this "mini how to" is already a little bit too advanced for me. in network units - dsl i have tried to install a pptp-connection but it doesn't work.
