Installing plug-ins for Gimp causing errors

The plug ins are from the gimp registry. I am getting these errors.

Quote:
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/lightsaber-effect.130.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";" unexpected

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/comicbook.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";" unexpected

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/steel_0.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";;" unexpected

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/burnt-paper.scm: 1: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/glass-selection.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";" unexpected

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/remove_timestamp.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";" unexpected

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/script-fu-pencil-drawing.scm: 1: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")

(gimp:3798): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
I am not a programmer so the error message confuses me. Something is missing. The number 1, is that line number 1 which is a comment or error number 1?

I am using ubuntu:
Quote:
[ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.31-20-generic (buildd@rothera) (gcc version 4.4.1 (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu9) ) #57-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 8 09:05:19 UTC 2010 (Ubuntu 2.6.31-20.57-generic)
and gimp 2.6.7

Would anyone have a suggestion on how to trouble shoot this problem?

first it needs to be installed in the "scripts" folder and NOT the plugins folder
~/.gimp-2.6/scripts

give that a try

All are installed in scripts also.
Quote:
dave@dave:~/.gimp-2.6/scripts$ ls
batchwork_1.py burnt-paper.scm~ comicbook.scm~ lightsaber-effect.130.scm script-fu-pencil-drawing.scm
burnt-paper.scm comicbook.scm glass-selection.scm remove_timestamp.scm steel_0.scm
dave@dave:~/.gimp-2.6/scripts$ cd ../plug-ins
dave@dave:~/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins$ ls
batchwork_1.py burnt-paper.scm~ comicbook.scm~ lightsaber-effect.130.scm script-fu-pencil-drawing.scm
burnt-paper.scm comicbook.scm glass-selection.scm remove_timestamp.scm steel_0.scm
dave@dave:~/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins$

a question?
are you trying to run the gimp script from the terminal????

"/home/dave/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins/lightsaber-effect.130.scm: 1: Syntax error: ";" unexpected"

that is what this looks like

From what I can tell, gimp loads fine and performs as expected. Just with out the plug-ins/scripts in question.

However there is one other installations that did load and is in the filter menu. It goes thru all the motions but does not perform the expected results.

the script works just fine for me
However i build my copy of gimp from the source code

is the script in ONLY the script folder , where it belongs?
or is it in both folders plugins and scripts

They were in both directories. I removed them from the plug-ins.
Everything works as it should.
Thank you.
