Installing php source and rpm

Hi,
I have a suse 10.1 server that has php-5.1.2 installed from source.
I have installed an application that needs php-snmp, however it expects to find php-snmp module in a different location. Through testing on another system i found out that when i install the php and php-snmp RPMs via Yast2, the application finds php-snmp and everything works.
Is there any problem if I installed the rpms for php and php-snmp on a system that already has php installed from source.
I do not want to uninstall php from source because this is a live system and other apps depend on php
