Exclamation Installing pciutils

I'm trying to install my modem correctly but it needs pciutils, I found the package as "pciutils-2.1.11-i386-4.tgz"

I used "tar xfvz package.tgz" but it only extracts to the same directory. How do I install this right so the files go to where they are supposed to? Read the INSTALL and it says do a make install but you can't because it extracts the files to /mydir/src and /mydir/sbin and mydir/install

also as well as pciutils my modem install requires 'sh' where is this?

cheers

seems to have worked but my modem package still needs dependencies pciutils and /bin/sh

I'm lost to how to sort that out when they're installed

There is a slack section in the distribution forum, ask a moderator to move this thread to there, might get more results
