installing packages from another distro

Hey y'all/. Set up: I have MDK 9.0 and 9.1 on CDs. MDK 9 has GnuCash 1.6.7 and MDK has GnuCash 1.8.1. Question: Can I install the GnuCash 1.6.7 from the MDK 9 CD in MDK 9.1? or vice versa? I have tried downloading hte newest version of GnuCash (1.8.2) and configuring it, it asks for about 20 other packages. I have tried 1.8.1 on MDK 9.1, but it doesn't import QIFs very well.
Second question: If I have RH 8 installed, can I install GnuCash from the MDK CDs (either one) on RH8?

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem as Mandy is 100% RedHat compatible, at least that's what they say ;)
