Question Installing Package with dependency

Hi,

i am using Red hat linux 7.3. While installing i forgot to select gcc , now for some software testing i have to do compilation, which i can't do.

When i tried to install gcc it is asking for lot of dependencies. I have installed in text mode.

I remember that in Red hat 9 , i installed rpmdb package for this and then under /etc/rpm i modified the macros.solve to look for /mnt/cdrom for packages.

But in 7.3, i am unable to achive , though i have installed rpmdb package.

If i give rpm -ivh --aid gcc.rpm . It retuns --aid unknown option error.

What configuratin i am missing.

Please help

regards
yunus
