Installing Oracle SQL Developer onto Fedora 20-Desktop

Good (morning / afternoon),

I have installed the latest JDK (7U60) as an RPM package and it appears to have installed as when I go into the yum logs the RPM shows to have installed successfully. After this I installed the latest Oracle SQL Developer (RPM) but yet when I go to click on the application shortcut for SQL Developer from the gnome 3 'Activities' area nothing happens.

I have only just installed Fedora 20 (desktop) last night so I am very new to this distro but am preferring it over Debian / Ubuntu which I have been using on and off for years.

How do I fix this so that I can run Oracle SQL Developer?

Here is some information which might be useful:

Linux localhost.localdomain 3.11.10-301.fc20.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 5 14:01:17 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[tom@localhost ~]$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_55"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (fedora-2.4.7.4.fc20-x86_64 u55-b13)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)

[tom@localhost ~]$ javac -version
javac 1.7.0_60

Are there any logs that I should look at for this?

If there is any other information I can provide to help please let me know.........

I removed open java components and installed both oracle jre and jdk; it has gotten me somewhat further yet I still am having issues see attachment.............. I'd rather not have to down grade java it just seems silly to me (it doesn't launch after clicking yes)

When you reply to your own post instead of editing it, we think someone is helping you.

Look at this page for a way to compare your shortcut to the example. http://srinisboulevard.blogspot.com/...inux-menu.html
