installing Mplayer on fedora core

i've downloaded the rpm and tried to install , but i get a lot of errors, listing some libs and stuff needed by jdjd.blah.blah.rpm. do i need to install any knd of prerequisites? i am using fedora core 1 and i read 2 replies, one with the link for the mplayer rpm, and he other saying install it from source as it is easier. if it really is, then someone just guide me through, i am a total newbie

When I installed it, I followed the instructions in an article in the OCtober issue of linux Magaizine -- add the following to /etc/yum.conf:

[dag]
name=DAG RPM Repository for Fedora Core
baseurl=http://apt.sw.be/fedora/2/en/$basearch/dag

Then as root run:

yum install mplayer
yum install mplayerplug-in
yum install mpg321

It worked like a charm for me!

The big list is just yum maintaiing its records -- if you run the yum install commands as per the last message, it should work just fine. When you use yum you don't have to wrry about rpms -- yum downloads what it needs automatically.
