Installing Matlab R2008a

So i have installed Matlab on my computer. I cannot launch it. When i go to /home/xurxo/programs/matlab/bin/matlab and i hit "run" nothing happens. When i hit "run in terminal" i get this error message which lasts just long enough to select and copy:

==========================================================================
License checkout failed.
License Manager Error -15
MATLAB is unable to connect to the license server.
Check that the license manager has been started, and that the MATLAB client machine can communicate
with the license server.

Troubleshoot this issue by visiting:
http://www.mathworks.com/support/lme/R2008b/15

Diagnostic Information:
Feature: MATLAB
License path: /home/xurxo/.matlab/R2008b_licenses:/home/xurxo/Programs/Matlab/licenses/license.dat:/home/xurxo/Pro
grams/Matlab/licenses/network.lic:
FLEXnet Licensing error: -15,570. System Error: 115

Maybe i installed it wrong. dunno.
Thanks for caring.

My suggestions are:

(1) Since you paid handsomely for matlab, presumably that gets you some support from them; maybe it's a common problem. You've gone to the suggested link above?

(2) The message seems to indicate a network problem contacting the license server; I presume you have no other network problems? If you suspect you might, then we'll probably need more information, eg distro, network interface etc. I went to the link and it'll walk you through some testing for that.
