Installing MaryTTS and Its Command-Line Wrapper Maryspeak

2015-12-05

I think I've installed both MaryTTS-5.1.2 and Maryspeak accoding to instructions posted at https://github.com correctly, but I am having trouble making Maryspeak work in Linux Mint 17.1. My jre is version 1.7 and therefore compatible with Marytts-5.1.2.

When I try to test MaryTTS by entering "maryspeak --default", Java returns "Error: Could not find or load main class maryspeak'.

This is my first exposure to Marytts and Maryspeak and would appreciate hearing from anyone who is familiar with them.

Hi Julian...

I'm not familiar with Maryspeak and MaryTTS and have no idea as to the exact nature of your problem but I did find some pages that might offer a clue...

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...ain-class-mean

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7...oad-main-class

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...oad-main-class

Perhaps one of the program developers could lend you a hand if no one here can help. :)

ardvark71,

Thank you very much for your kind response. Two days ago, I finally succeeded in installing MaryTTS and Maryspeak by carefully repeating the original instructions posted on https://github.com. I could even test MaryTTS's voice and performance a bit. I was somewhat disappointed by the slow Java response.
