Unhappy Installing Limewire


I installed the vm environment thing, and executed it did the rpm thing. Now i open up limewire and install it but it still says i have to have the vm prior running it. it says no java virtual machine could be found from your path environment variable ???

You may either; Have to put the path to the java runtime execs in your PATH statement (this is the easiest way), or Edit the Makefile to point to the java program. The first is best since you won't have to edit anymore Makefiles or configure files.

i tink the path to the java environment program is in usr/java, but how would i set the path?

PATH="$PATH:/usr/local/java/bin"

(change /usr/local/java/bin to your java/bin directory)

If you want it to be like that each time you log in just add it to your /etc/profile file.

I'm not 100% if that command is right, i did this a long time ago since i never use LimeWire anymore.

Thank you Therion for posting that command. Its so frustrating when someone just tries to help by telling you something as vague as the original error you got. This command worked, but for Redhat 7.3 with j2re1.4.0 you substitute '/usr/java/j2re1.4.0/bin' instead of "/usr/local/java/bin"'. Thanks for the command and for pointing out what had to be substituted.
