Installing latex on ubuntu 16.04

Hi there
I have been trying to install latex on my pc with ubuntu 16.04 running on it, using the sudo command, it shows the following statement.

majeed@majeed-ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install texlive-full
[sudo] password for majeed:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
majeed@majeed-ubuntu:~$

Any clue of how to install latex on my pc with ubuntu 16.04 running on it. Thanks a lot.

My problem got resolved by first writing:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
this fixed the problem.
and then used 'sudo apt-get install texlive-full'

and it did work.
