Problems with cygwin and kde
Yello people !!!
I' ve just signed in and I'm very happy. My machine is a P4 with win xp. I've three (3) questions to address to the world: After installing cygwin (binary), do I have to do any extra configuring? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When running cygwin.bat I get a bash: test: too many arguments message before the prompt. Why is this happening? Should I be disturbed? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I installed KDE, following the instructions I found at http://www.devhood.com/tutorials/tutorial_details.aspx?tutorial_id=588 When I type in the last command startx & I get a [1] 1784 blahblah@moreblahblah[~] $ bash: startx: command not found (then it stops. I then hit enter and spits out...) [1]+ Exit 127 startx blahblah@moreblahblah[~] $ (note: the number 127 changes after every execution) What am I doing wrong? |
Before you can run kde, you should have installed the X server. The X server supplies the environment for windowmanagers. KDE just takes care of windows.
Check to see if there's an X server available for cygwin (i'm not sure one exists/runs with windows) |
