Installing GnuCash on KDE - anyone know how to do it?
I would like to install GnuCash but not sure how to get it to work - e.g. what dependencies I'd need to account for/install - to get it to work. Would really appriciate and input on how to do this.

what kind of package do you want to install from? a tarball, a RPM, a .deb, blah blah blah?
programs don't really care what DE/WM you're running provided you have all the libraries installed for a DE/WM. A program written for kde will work in gnome, etc, etc.
here's your dependancies:

Hi Megaspaz,
Am currently running Kubuntu 5.10. The repositories only have GnuCash 1.8.10 so I was thinking of downloading the 1.8.12 tarball from source. I did take a look at the dependencies list - thanks for the link - and, still being a bit of a noob, thought there might be a bit of a conflict when I noticed one of the gui dependencies was 'Gnome (application infrastructure)'. Wasn't sure if it would cause issues since I'm running KDE as my DE.
If you have any suggestions as the best way to set it up I'd appreciated it. In the meantime, if I get time tomorrow (Mon.) I'll go through the dependencies listed at Gnucash, check for them in the kubuntu pkg mgr and install them, download the tarball, install the app, and see what happens.
regards

if the kubuntu has gnucash in its repositories, my guess is that they have your dependancies sorted out, at least for the version of gnucash in their repos. If you're not sure you have the dependancies installed on your machine at this exact moment, use your package manager over the list of dependancies (don't do gnucash though). You should then be able to compile gnucash from source.

I too am trying to install gnucash. I double click on file:/home/fourwdrev/Documents/gnuCash/gnucash-1.6.1-1.i386.rpm and then I get a button to have YaST install it, its asks for root password, which I give it, and, like so many first dates, I never hear from it again, not knowing if any installation occurred.
I'm kinda new to linux, but have eons of mere userdom on unix systems.
I am rolling the dice that I can install something meant for 7.1 suse onto 9.1 SuSE.
