Installing GLIBC 2.3.6

I've downloaded the course file, glibc-2.3.6.tar.gz but I'm not sure on how installing it. I tried to do it through Slackware's package manager but "the package isn't tgz type...".

Read and follow the installation instructions?

Slackware's installpkg (or pkgtool) is used to install pre-built packages, whereas the package you downloaded is in source code form and so needs to be built first.
