Installing GKrellM problem

Im trying to install GKrellM. When I do a tar -xzvf it unpacks everything into root without creating files in say /usr/local/, and the files it creates in root are ect/, usr/, and install/ (install has doinst.sh* and slack-desc*). I have no clue where to ./configure, make, make install. The install page tells me to cd in gkrellm- 2.1.28/ and ./configure, execpt there is no gkrellm- 2.1.28/ in sight

If the file ends in .tgz it is probably a slackware package. That means you can just do this command as root:

installpkg filename.tgz

(just guessing you have slackware since that what you have for your distribution.

Download this package:

ftp://ftp.linuxpackages.net/pub/Slac....28-i686-1.tgz

and use the command that veritas told you to get it installed:

installpkg gkrellm-2.1.28-i686-1.tgz
