configure: error: Cannot find Gtk - gtk-config missing from path?

Ive tried installing gtk 1.2.5 and glib 1.2.5 get errors there maybe Im doing it wrong...im very green...I have mandrake 9.1 and it comes with gtk 2.0 it appears that GDAM needs 1.2.5...

How do I correct this error???I would appreciate any help you can give.
