Installing games

Hi eveyone. I'm just trying to find some games to install on my new linux running computer. I mentioned in a thread once that i didn't have anywhere nearby that would sell linux games, and I was told "Games can often be installed from the same windows disk" and I was given the examples of quake 3 and unreal tournament. I was even that you could install quake 3 in windows and then reboot into linux and run it off of the windows partition.

I have both unreal tournament and unreal tournament 2003. I found a site (http://www.lokigames.com/products/ut/) that had a download to install unreal tournament with and it requires that you have the UT cdrom. I have the windows cd rom and I assumed that was it. When I put the disc in the computer and run the install it says that it can't find the cdrom

Naturally I've come to two conclusions. I have to indicate in a path somewhere which directory to check the cdrom, or I have the wrong disk. If anyone out there who's installed UT or just knows a lot about it can give me some information, it would be most helpful. Thank you

Did you mount the CD-ROM? The system won't know about your UT CD unless you mount it.

I post these in hope that someone will read them and another person won't have such a hard time finding the answer in the next life...

WHEN USING MANDRAKE! If you have a program that tries to detect a disk when doing anything and it's not seeing it, do this... Open terminal, log in as the super user, type in "supermount -i disable", then try installing. After you're done just type in "supermount -i enable" and you should be good. There's your answer... there's my answer.
