Installing GAIM on Suse Linux

Hello everybody,
I just got Linux yesterday and I would like to install GAIM because I dont really like Kopete. When installing i move in the Konsole to the directory where the GAIM files are and type
Code:

./configre
, afterwards it checks if I have all these stuff I need and it says I have everything except for:
Code:

checking for sed... /usr/bin/sed
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no

I looked in the root folder and I certainly have the gcc installed at /usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.0.2. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Any help is apreciated,
thank you.

use whatever software installing tool SuSE uses nowdays and install gcc and it should install the rest of the packages that gcc depend on to compile from source, or just use it to install a pre-compiled package of gaim, (Yast?) your call...
