Installing Gaim

I have installed Redhat 9.0 a couple weeks back and it works fine. However, I'm having trouble using Gaim. I was trying to use Gaim v0.59.8 (which comes with Redhat 9). I set the account and loaded the plugin libmsn. Whenever I try to Signon I get a connection error. I use a proxy to access the internet and so I have made the required settings for an HTTP proxy.
I also downloaded Gaim v0.64 and configured it. After ./configure I typed 'make' and that too completed successfully. Now how exactly do i use Gaim v0.64.
If you have comments which can solve the problemwith 0.59.8 thats just fine or go ahead and tell me the procedure for 0.64.
Thanks

To install the 0.64 package, you need to su to root and run "make install" as well. Make sure to read the INSTALL or README docs included in the same directory first

Thanks that helped... When I open gaim the new version opens BUT I can't get that to work as yet with MSN

Try asking in the #gaim channel on freenode IRC about MSN proxies. I don't know if that's implemented yet.
