I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and I want to install gaim 0.64. So I downloaded gaim-0.64-1.i386.rpm from the gaim website. When I went to install it, it said:
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed (5 MB):
gaim-0.64-1.i386
libgtkspell0-2.0.3-3mdk.i586
libpspell4-0.12.2-7mdk.i586
pspell-0.12.2-7mdk.i586
So I thought it would go well and clicked ok. But then I get the error
Conflicts were detected:
gtk2 = 2.0.0 is needed by gaim-0.64-1
Install aborted
I also tried to install from source so did the ./configure but it returns me an error of:
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.
configure: error:

Do I need to install the GTK+ 2.0? or is there a way for me to use what I already have?
I checked and found out that I have GTK+-2.2 and the gtk website said that GTK+-2.2 was compatible with GTK+-2.0, so what is going on? How do I install gaim? Do I need to get GTK+-2.0?
