Installing FTP, SSH & Samba on Mandriva 2008
I've installed Mandriva 2008 and I have to say it looks very nice, but I want to install, an FTP Server, SSH Server and a Samba server and I don't see how to do it. I already have a 2005 version and on that I can go into the "Mandrake Control Centre" choose "Security", "Setup Personel Firewall" and then I just have to tic boxes for FTP,SSH & SMB and it's all installed.
Can anyone tell where the equivalent is on 2008?

You need the packages installed, they may not be there. Open up MCC ( Mandirva Control Center ). You need the root password. Click 'Software Management' and then 'Install Remove Spftware'. From there on the searech line, look to see if the packages are listed as installed. If not install them. Example. Samba, you need a package called Samba-common and another called Samba-server. For ssh, install Openssh. The package manager ( urpmi ) will ask you to install other packages as pre-req's. Let in install all it calls for. I don't have a ftp server installed. Type 'ftp' in the search bar, look for a server.

You will have to configure each server. Samba cam be complex. There are examples under 'Tutorials' on this board. Look there for examples on how to get started with each server.

If you do not have URPMI configured yet for online repos, go here first, and configure it. Then do the installs.
