installing flash player on gnu/linux
I've been trying to get the flash player plugin to work on my system for a few days and I finally figured out what was wrong. The problem was the plugin couldn't find libz.

$ ldd .mozilla/plugins/ =>  (0xffffe000) => /usr/glibc2/lib/ (0x402cc000) => /usr/glibc2/lib/ (0x4031f000) => not found => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x40323000) => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x403ea000) => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x403f8000) => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x40449000) => /usr/glibc2/lib/ (0x4045f000) => /usr/glibc2/lib/ (0x40483000)
        /usr/glibc2/lib/ (0x80000000) => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x40599000) => /usr/X11R6/lib/ (0x405a2000)

I knew I had installed libz a while ago, but I went back to check the installation and noticed that it doesn't make shared libraries by default. There's a --shared flag. Teach me not to read the readme.

So once the lib was installed, I reloaded and all my cool animations came back.

Not really a question, just FYI.
