Installing flash player doesn't allow youtube videos to show in firefox

Hi all,
Ive been downloading the install_flash_player_10_linux.deb and installing it, but I still get "
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
" in place of the video. I actually downloaded the .deb from from the "Get the latest flash player" link. Why is this? Also, is this sort of thing indicative of linux as a whole?

thankyou, RM
