Question Installing Firefox - libgtk

What do i need to do to make firefox install?

I get this error when running the installer. (./firefox-installer)

Error: ./firefox-installer-bin: error in loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

I've been googling and have seen that this might have something to do with glibc... but obviously i'm a noob at linux... so i'm not sure how to go about even installing glibc if that is what i need to do.

Any help is greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Which DE are you running? Gnome or KDE (or something else)? Do you have gtk installed (look for libgtk2, or gtk-2, or stuff like that)?

more info

I'm using KDE and i did a search for some of that stuff you mentioned but i couldn't find anything.. so i need to install gtk? would that be one of the packages on the suse disks?

I went to and tried to download gtk, but it said that "the document contained no data"... I guess i'll keep lookin for a gtk tarball

i'm not sure exactly what you mean by distro.. it is Suse 6.4.. is there a shell command to show what distro?

edit:.. i just looked in /usr/lib/ and found libgtk ... does that mean i need to update/upgrade to libgtk 2.0? if so.. how is that done?

i've heard that suse 10 is really nice.. and it makes sense to upgrade...

i just used the 6.4 disks because that's what i had at the time..

do you know if it has any higher hardware requirements? because my laptop is definitely BOTTOM of the line..

edit:: I just downloaded the internet install for suse 10... it booted up and i hit install.... it goes through a bunch of text and freezes on "3 pagefiles" with a dash on the next line.... and.... then nothing happens.... lol
