Installing Firefox 1.5 on Mandriva 2006

Ok So I just installed Mandriva 2006 Free Edition and I would like to install Firefox 1.5. I already ran all the updates but it only upgrades it to 1.06. I have downloaded the tar file from getfirefox.com and I am wondering on how do I go about installing it PROPERLY.

Noobish but I am still learning
Thanks in advanced,
Dimitriy

You don't have to install Firefox. Just untar the file and run firefox executable.

i had the same problem and found the solution here:
http://www.penguinpusher.org/2005/12...mandriva-2006/

all i had to do to get it working was run:
urpmi libstdc++5

and that fixed the mismatched library issues.

easy change for Firefox install in Fedora

right click the Mozilla Icon in your "taskbar" , select properties, slide down to the command area, and enter the path to where you extracted the firefox files, it will then associate the mozilla icon with the new Firefox files

Guide to installing Firefox

I found a walkthrough on mozillazine org which explains where to put it so it'll work well on multiuser systems.

Worked for me....

Search for Installing Firefox in Google with mozillazine org in the site. I'd leave a link but I can't.
