installing downloads


I have Mandrake 9.2 and I downloaded realplayer for linux but I cant see how to instal it.

what type of file is it ?

That makes perfect since. Pop open a terminal and cd to the directory where it is and then type ./rlpl_linux22_libc6_i386_al.bin . I installed it before, but it's gone now since I really had no use for it. Enjoy anyway.

and since it wasn't mentioned, you may have to make the file an executable before
doing what was said above ...
so just in case that is the case type this before running it :
chmod u+x rlpl_linux22_libc6_i386_al.bin
and then ..
./rlpl_linux22_libc6_i386_al.bin

and remember that you can press TAB after typing the first few letters of a filename for it to autocomplete it for you...it took me a while to realise that when I first started with linux all those moons ago..!

Darn, that's what nautilus does. Thanks, i know tons but there's still many more small things out there.
