Installing CVS

i am a total newbie to linux could anybody guide me as to how i can install CVS on my system

Mara 07-10-2003 04:22 PM

It comes with most distros - make sure you have cvs package installed. Are you interested in server or client?

Knowing nothing is one thing, not
reading what you subscribe to is
stupid ...

Please, don't double-post:

Agh...Now the replies are in both threads...

You should have a cvs client in your system... Try to open a terminal and run
cvs

What does it show you?

You don't need to compie it - it will be easier to use RPM (if you're using an RPM version). Package name is 'cvs'. If you can't find it on your installation cds, choose the latest version for your distro from rpmfind.net: ttp://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=cvs&submit=Search+... (if the link doesn't work, visit rpmfind.net and search for 'cvs').

i searched as u told me but there was no rpm version for red hat 9.0

Mara 07-13-2003 03:09 PM

Are you sure it's not on your cds?
